picture1 Do you have a passion for driving? Then you’re in luck. The true Italian roadster is back with the All-New 2017 FIAT® 124 Spider, featuring exceptional handling for drivers who know responsiveness is everything.   If you love to drop the top and hit the road, the All-New 2017 FIAT 124 Spider was designed specifically for you, with a Bilstein® Performance Suspension with a front strut tower brace on Abarth models for exceptional handling, as well as standard four-wheel independent suspension featuring a double-wishbone front and multilink rear design and nearly 50/50 weight distribution, giving you the confidence of control and a smooth, balanced ride.   How does the All-New 2017 FIAT 124 Spider do it?
  1. LIGHTWEIGHT BODY STRUCTURE
It all starts with the body of the vehicle, which uses straight beams and a continuous framework wherever possible, and employs aluminum and high-tensile steel to provide safety and rigidity. Using the “gram strategy,” engineers removed expendable weight from the body of the 124 Spider wherever possible, taking into account each component and weld in the structure.   In addition, new technologies, such as the seat structure that incorporates lightweight materials and aluminum soft-top links, were incorporated into the design to reduce weight.
  1. FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION
Utilizing a double-wishbone layout, the All-New FIAT 124 Spider’s front suspension is highly rigid and lightweight, which helps to optimize turn-in ability and stability when braking in corners.   The rear suspension, for its part, uses a multilink scheme, with a rear crossmember that utilizes a truss design to help create a light and highly rigid structure. The positioning of the rear links and mounting location of the dampers were optimized to help provide optimal grip and controllability when cornering, providing an overall fun driving experience.
  1. RESPONSIVE STEERING SYSTEM
The All-New FIAT 124 Spider connects the driver to the road with a dual-pinion Electric Power Assist Steering system that is light and responsive, accurately transmitting road input with a minimum of torque variation. With direct feedback from the road surface and an optimized steering gear ratio, the driver can sense every detail of asphalt and respond as needed.   picture31 Some of the other performance options and features that make the All-New 2017 FIAT 124 Spider Abarth such a dynamic, responsive ride include a mechanical limited-slip differential, available Brembo® brakes, Bilstein shock absorbers and stiffer springs, anti-roll and tower bars, and a sport mode selector.   Pair all that with the 1.4L MultiAir® Turbo engine with up to 164 horsepower and the short-throw shifting of the standard six-speed manual transmission (six-speed automatic optional), then get ready to experience the road in a whole new way.
