It may be a new brand to some of the younger generation in the states, but FIAT had deep roots in North America before re-launching last year.  Even when FIAT was no longer in the North American market,  enthusiasts in the U.S. and Canada came together and formed the independent FIAT Lancia Underground (FLU) group in 1982.  Fast forward 30 years, and there are now 25 different FLU chapters thriving in the U.S. and Canada.

Members of those chapters will come together this August 2 – 5 at the 29th Annual FIAT FreakOut event in Charlottesville, VA.  The FreakOut gives FIAT enthusiasts from all over North America a chance to join with friends and family to celebrate the Italian cars they love – old and new alike.

This year’s FreakOut includes a track day at the Virginia International Speedway, along with the usual FIAT-themed dinners, drives, shows and talks taking place at the Wintergreen Resort in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

You can tell from these pics that we had a blast at last year’s FreakOut.  We even caught this 500 performing a random act of kindness!  Will you be joining in the fun this year? We can’t wait for all that we have in store! In the Olympic Lounge, you’ll have the chance to test drive the newest feature on FIAT Backstage: “Story Booth.” The stories that you share at the FreakOut will be read by Head of FIAT Brand North America, Tim Kuniskis, and he’ll be highlighting some of his favorites during the awards banquet on Saturday night!

See you in Virginia!

    I think this is the 30th Annual. No? 1983=1,1992=10, 2002=20, 2012=30.

I like the Abarth. But can I get a mid-engine two-seater with his name on it?
